Michal Arieli (b. 1973) is a self-taught artist based in Tel Aviv, Israel, where she creates fine art, illustrations and surface pattern designs. Her artwork combines figurative painting, stencil prints and folklore designs. depicting daily scenes on “wounded” materials such as wooden boxes and Plexiglas panels.
In Arieli’s illustrations and designs, fine art meets design legacies, pieces of daily life become a fantasy story and hand-drawn art is manipulated by computer. All of these come together to form illustrative, layered designs with a dreamy feel for grown-up kids.
